The World Health Organization identifies a well-functioning health information system as one that ensures the production, analysis, dissemination and use of reliable and timely health information by decision-makers at different levels of the health system, both on a regular basis and in emergencies.
It involves three domains of health information on health determinants, health systems performance, and health status.
Currently, our community is not fully benefitting from a well-functioning health information system. There is a huge challenge that needs to be addressed which is the ambiguity in care processes on different levels of service.
